Help
  • Manage and oversee secure production and manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure that all work throughout Passport production is performed in accordance with the SID Business Unit’s procedures and/or work instructions.
  • Use one or more powered, semi- and fully automatic bindery machines to produce a complete bindery and finishing unit that processes printed sheets into final books, catalogs, manuals, directories, magazines, or other completed products.
  • Instruct and guide lower- level operators assigned to monitor the operation of machines or workstations during major production runs.
  • Implement setups that requires precise adjustments of combined machines or multiple workstations and more interrelated adjustments for the sequencing, timing and movement of materials between machines or stations.

  • Working Conditions: Duties are performed in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated area.
  • Working Conditions: The incumbent is exposed to low frequency noise generated by bindery equipment. The work is performed indoors, with no exposure to excessive heat or cold.
  • Selectee may be required to pass all preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
  • Selectee may be required to obtain and Maintain a Security Clearance.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Bindery Machine Operator Supervisor. These duties require skill in

  • Lead and coordinate binding production activities such as assisting in resolving routine production issues.
  • Coordinate work assignments, production flow, and daily priorities to support meeting production schedules and established deadlines.
  • Provide instruction, guidance, and on-the-job training to lower-level operators assigned to monitor machine and workstation operations during major production runs.
  • Promote and support safety by conducting regular safety contacts with employees, modeling safe work practices, and reinforcing established safety processes.
  • Assist in developing, documents, and applying operating procedures and process controls to ensure work is performed in accordance with established standards.

Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a Secret Clearance. This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs. Depending on the type of background investigation required, the security process may take between 6 weeks to 12 months.

The agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to obtain an interim clearance.

The selectee will work Shift 1 or Shift 2.

  • Shift 1, Work Hours are (4/10-hour days, Monday-Thursday) 7:00am - 5:30pm
  • Shift 2, Work Hours are (4/10-hour nights, Monday-Thursday) 5:00pm - 3:30am
