Duties

As an AIRPLANE PILOT-TITLE 32, GS-2181-13, you will pilot aircraft on assigned missions using advanced precision instrument flight techniques. Fly well within flight parameters to execute normal flights procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the aircraft systems and procedures. Maintain mission qualifications in the assigned airplane. Prepare for flights by reviewing weather information, studying maps and charts, planning alternate routes and destination, reviewing fuel requirements, estimating flying time, verifying maintenance conditions, performing preflight checks, conducting passenger and crew briefs, and obtaining proper clearances to begin the flight. Operate the airplane with the utmost safety. Accomplish post-flight activities such as maintaining airplane logs and forms, writing flight reports, coordinating with maintenance personnel on service conditions, and conducting post-flight checks. Serve as the Air Commander's representative when performing duties as Supervisor of Flying (SOF) and is responsible for the safe and efficient mission accomplishment of the unit. Design and coordinate comprehensive training plans and scenarios to provide technical aircrew training. Adopt and implement policies to ensure accomplishment of all required training. Establish training goals and objectives for instrument flight and general operation of the UE airplane. Analyze post-mission debriefing and critiques to ensure accomplishment of assigned training events. Plan, develop and implement the unit flying schedule. Coordinate the operational requirements with the Aircraft Maintenance Division, the FAA, and other agencies. Perform other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
Wear of the military uniform.
Position may require a pre-employment physical.
May be subject to furlough actions.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
Must have graduated from USAF Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
Must maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
Must possess appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificate OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
Must be C130J qualified.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 24 months experience operating a fixed wing military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparation. Experience reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information. Experience in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings. Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments. Experience conducting/supervising training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks. Knowledge is required in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
