The Human Resources Specialist (Recruitment and Placement) administers a wide variety of recruitment activities and programs to attract and retain well qualified candidates, provides technical advice, assistance and guidance, and coordinates a variety of related HR data and service initiatives.

Duties

Help

As a Human Resources Specialist GS- 0201-12, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Executing recruitment, placement, and related programs for assigned organizations;
  • Advising, identifying, and analyzing staffing issues and problems;
  • Developing staffing and recruitment strategies in conjunction with Hiring Officials.
  • Advising managers and supervisors on staffing requirements, resources, and problems in assigned offices;
  • Establishing long and short range staffing plans to meet forecasted mission requirements, human capital losses, and changes in critical competencies and availability of candidates, career development patterns, and reorganization proposals;
  • Researching and interpreting regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the Human Resources Specialist 0201 -12 position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks - full-time) of specialized work experience, at the GS-11 or equivalent level performing the following duties:

  • Advising, identifying, and analyzing staffing issues and problems;
  • Providing advice on use of various recruitment sources;
  • Performing the full range of examining functions including, creating assessments and vacancy announcements, reviewing applications, creating applicant referral lists, and responding to questions from applicants and hiring officials regarding the status of the recruitment action; and
  • Assisting with internal audits and delegated examining self-assessments of completed personnel actions using existing guidelines and procedures.
