Duties

Help

  • Serves as the senior security organizational functional and technical expert for all security and information protection matters of the organization.
  • Develops and prioritizes organizational and information protection performance goals and mission objectives; develops operating procedures and plans, test security concept and implementation plans, sets overall priorities and objectives for security personnel; assesses progress toward objectives; identifies problems and takes appropriate corrective actions; evaluates new concepts and ideas of technical and management importance.
  • Provides technical expertise to organizational management, facilities, civil engineering, Corps of Engineers and cyber security personnel on security systems design/equipment, secure room/facility construction and renovation, communications and data line configuration/installation, and emissions and audio security requirements.
  • Analyze complex security problems, mission vulnerabilities, security impacts to mission assurance, and convergence difficulties involving multiple security disciplines and other functional areas and provides cost effective, efficient, and productive solutions to ensure mission success.

  • Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position.
  • Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) required within two years.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: Administrative and Management Positions

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-2, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience should include experience in developing and implementing organizational level information, personnel, industrial, physical, program protection, information technology and/or communications security programs and/or managing Special Access Programs (SAP) and projects up to and including Top Secret/Special Access Required (SAR).

Ideal Candidate: Experience with Air Force Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation processes desired
  • Experience navigating complex regulatory requirements and communicating those requirements to a broad audience desired
  • Knowledge of multiple security disciplines (PERSEC, INFOSEC, OPSEC, Foreign Disclosure) desired
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  1. Knowledge of a wide range of security and information protection concepts, principles, and practices to review independently, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems. Comprehensive knowledge of security policy requirements to function as technical authority in multiple security specialties in order to resolve major conflicts in policy, procedure and program objectives.
  2. Knowledge of analytical methods for determining and evaluating vulnerability threats, intelligence data, and other specialized areas resulting in possible program compromise.
  3. Ability to work independently planning, scheduling, coordinating, carrying out, and monitoring the effectiveness of the operations of multiple security programs in attaining organizational operational and test mission activities.
  4. Ability to interpret, establish and monitor operating security programs to meet specific test and operational program situations involving multi-security classification and highly classified information, facilities, devices and operations.
  5. Ability to plan, organize work and meet deadlines.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
