The United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Lompoc, California is searching for a Unit Security Manager for the 533rd Training Squadron (NH-0080-02, GS-5/11 Equivalent).

Description:
533 TRS is looking for a self-starter, who has exceptional skills working with people to serve as the Security Specialist in the U.S. Space Force's only initial skills training squadron, training all enlisted Guardians! The Individual selected will serve as security program specialist, executing and enforcing compliance with operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of an integrated security program. You will establish security policies and procedures in order to protect the unit's personnel and facilities.

Ideal Candidate:
1. Personnel and Physical security program management experience.
2. Have an operational background working in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
3. Be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, security policy and procedures to seasoned and new Space Force personnel.
4. Individual must be professional in bearing, a collaborator, enthusiastic, with excellent time management skills.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Have basic knowledge and skills to apply standardized body of personnel rules, regulations, procedures, and precedents to mission requirements.
2. Knowledge of information, industry, personnel, and physical security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas.
3. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.
4. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation.
5. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
6. Knowledge of customer support principles sufficient to receive, respond to, and ensure complete resolution of problems the ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization.
7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and negotiate complex issues.
8. Ability to input, store, retrieve data and perform quality review of data elements in data systems.
9. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
  • May be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework".
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • PCS/relocation funding is not authorized.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • A permanent basing decision for STARCOM is still pending and may require this position to be relocated based upon that decision, as applicable.
  • This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
