Duties

Help

  • Study the structure and/or functions of the organization's complex interrelated work processes and functions and accurately advises or proposes solutions to improve processes and maximize mission accomplishment and resource utilization.
  • Perform a broad range of safety and occupational health duties in one or more areas or ground safety and occupational health.
  • Analyze and identify best course of action, determine impact on program area and potential problems and recommend preventive/corrective actions.
  • Plan, organize and direct team study work of Squadron organizations.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is primarily sedentary, may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items such as paper or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in a typical office setting, requiring the use of normal safety precautions necessary for an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, .
Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-4, or equivalent in other pay systems. Generalized experience is experience in:the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions, monitor and influence cost parameters or work, tasks, and projects, plan and organize work, provide briefings to management; communicate effectively orally and in writing and ensure day to day operations comply with policies. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Applicant must have a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Applicant must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed qualifying education and experience to meet total experience requirements. General experience directly related to the work of the position and education in excess of a completed post high school education and experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position may be used.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

    1. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to identity, develop, and implement resolution issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of programs, measures and improvements.
    2. Knowledge of relationship of pertinent laws regulations, policies and precedents which affect the Squadron resources to sufficiently interpret and modify or significantly depart from current techniques and apply/incorporate improvements.
    3. Knowledge of the major mission requirements, production processes/policies and administrative operations of the organization to facilitate improvements. reduce no-value added redundancies and address safety issues. Knowledge of the requirements, methods and techniques of accident and mishap investigation of normal lo high safety and occupational health risk areas, to include fact finding, analysis, risk assessment, resolution involving safety hazards/problems, and preparing and submitting for reports.
    4. Knowledge of physiological and psychological factors sufficient to evaluate the relationship of an individual to the working environment and to motivate individuals to perform in a safe manner and to use protective gear.
    5. Comprehensive knowledge of VPP/MRM, OSHA, and USR requirements/regulations. local and AF safety and health practices and programs, established policies and procedures to evaluate, plan, modify, coordinate, direct, and improve a diverse program and advise key managerial personnel on course of action.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Additional information

Hill Air Force Base provides worldwide engineering and logistics management for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and the Minuteman III ICBM, and performs depot maintenance of the F-16, A-10, and C-130 Hercules aircraft. The base is located between Ogden and Salt Lake City. The area is known for year-round activities, including skiing, hiking, boating, extreme sports, fishing and hunting, with four distinct seasons, low humidity and moderate snow fall in the valley.

This is an acquisition demonstration project position NH-02 equivalent to a GS-05 to GS-11.
