Duties

Help
  • Conducts armed foot patrol of the interior and exterior of restricted areas to inspect for security violations.
  • Provides access control of vehicles and pedestrians to the IDT Complex, based on an approved limited access roster and/or appropriate restricted area access badge.
  • Verifies identification through use of identification cards, badges, biometrics, automated records, vehicle decals, verbal questioning, and other means.
  • Warns violators of laws, regulations, policies, and rules or posted warnings.

  • This position requires a Secret clearance.

  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • This position requires the compliance with the Individual Reliability Program in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position requires proficiency in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued.
  • This position requires the successful completion of an initial, annual, and recertification security guard training IAW AR 190-56, prior to being assigned solo security guard duties.
  • This position requires successful completion of an initial and annual CPR certification and First Aid training.
  • This position may require the wear of chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may require certification in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
  • This position requires the ability to pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the wear of prescribed uniform.
  • This position requires the participation in regularly scheduled training in the enforcement of installation rules, regulations and policies.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NK-01/GS-04).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04/NK-01).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
