This position is located under the Office of Field Operations - Programs, National Center for Explosives Training and Research (NCETR), Fire Programs and Training Branch located in Location Negotiable After Selection, United States.
Serves as the National Response Team (NRT) Supervisor for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives NRT Regions. As NRT Supervisor, the incumbent has specific and functional responsibilities within his/her area of assignment and is also often called upon to perform special studies and or projects (all related to the law enforcement mission of ATF) beyond their immediate assigned area.
Typical duties will include:
Oversees all operational, interview and intelligence functions at all NRT activations or on occasion other regions as directed
As NRT supervisor, the incumbent supervises up to 30 special agents, who are tasked with performing substantive criminal investigative work.
Manages and directs a large staff of criminal investigators and clerical support, overseeing their work for effectiveness in conducting division operations and activities.
As NRT Supervisor, the incumbent has total responsibility of all aspects of NRT activations including evaluating the teams performance.

MOBILITY PLAN: New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement. The 1811 position requires law enforcement experience and is covered by special retirement provisions, including maximum entry age requirements. The successful applicant must be able to display and maintain the required proficiency with firearms per ATF's firearms proficiency standards. Complete or have previously completed the basic criminal investigative courses (Criminal Investigator Training Program, Special Agent Basic Training) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Complete a medical examination (including vision, hearing, cardiovascular and mobility of extremities) by an authorized government physician and be determined physically fit to perform strenuous physically demanding duties. You will be required to undergo regular physical examinations and to maintain a level of physical fitness in accordance with ATF's standards and policies.
Qualifications
To qualify for GS-14, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level
GS-13.
Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized experience includes:
Applying law enforcement investigative techniques in order to direct a major field component; AND
Executing and coordinating criminal enforcement programs; AND
Making operational decisions regarding investigations of a criminal nature
Certified Fire Investigator experience is preferred but not required.
