Duties

Help

The Director of Anacostia Community Museum will lead the senior management of ACM to conduct the museum's mission and is responsible for management of ACM's operations, finance and administration. 

In this position, you will:

  • Oversee the development, justification, allocation, and execution of the annual operating budget for the ACM.
  • Oversee the planning, development and execution of Museum exhibitions; and ensuring systematic review of exhibition content, design, and installation.
  • Oversee exhibitions, educational and public programs, scholarly initiatives, collections management, and the ACM's on-line presence.
  • Oversee the management of the Museum's collections.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as demonstrating leadership and familiarity with managing museum projects and functions, overseeing and analyzing financial operations, scholarly activities, and directing operations and programs of a public or private museum.

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying).
