Duties

Help
  • You will provide the leadership necessary to maintain an effective work force and ensures a continuous flow and exchange of information between employees.
  • You will serve as a mathematical Statistician for the Division (N32), interfacing current educational theories and techniques with mathematical and Statistician knowledge in keeping the mathematics within NEAS educationally and technically sound.
  • You will use qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment of program effectiveness.
  • You will generate and evaluate alternative solutions to problems using critical thinking and sound judgement.
  • You will design, develop and perform the technical functions and controls for the integrity and statistical analysis of exam construction, advancement systems and other studies as directed.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Coordinate, develop, manage, and validate the implementation of new and existing functional requirements for Navy enlisted advancement system tools and applications, as well as for associated interfacing systems, 2) Perform Navy enlisted advancement system data integrity checks, test revised or new system applications, and conduct analysis and validation of advancement results, 3) Originate, conduct, and direct research, analysis, and testing for statistical studies, research projects, and new operational methodologies for advancement systems and exam construction, and 4) Prepare and present briefs, analysis, demonstrations, and recommendations to Navy enlisted advancement management and stakeholders. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Applicants must possess bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics, and 6 semester hours were in statistics. Meet the mathematics course requirement by having at least four of the following: differential calculus, integral calculus, advanced calculus, theory of equations, vector analysis, advanced algebra, linear algebra, mathematical logic, differential equations, or any other advanced course in mathematics for which one of these was a prerequisite. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).

A combination of experience and education with at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown above in A, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Meet the mathematics course requirement by having at least four of the following: differential calculus, integral calculus, advanced calculus, theory of equations, vector analysis, advanced algebra, linear algebra, mathematical logic, differential equations, or any other advanced course in mathematics for which one of these was a prerequisite. Have appropriate experience which includes evidence of statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying known statistical techniques to data such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
