Summary

This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Plate Printing Division DCF. As a Printing Plant Worker, you will perform any and all tasks assigned including, but not limited to, ensuring a clean/safe work area; keeping assigned press areas and manufacturing sections fully stocked with all required items for use during production; movement of all security products through the facility; securing and storing of all printed securities; and accountability of securities.

Duties

Help

As a Printing Plant Worker, you will:

  • Receive on-the-job training and must have full understanding of the proper workflow methods, duties, procedures, rules, and regulations associated with the production of security items within the Office of Currency Manufacturing.
  • Have the ability to accurately identify materials used in manufacturing a wide variety of securities.
  • Be able to acquire and demonstrate skilled methods of managing secure products in a manner as to minimize spoilage.
  • Possess the skills necessary to accurately stack loads at pre-loader and/or within press feeder of the press of the purpose of consistent and uninterrupted paper product flow through feeder of any security producing press.
  • Become proficient in the use of the Jogger/Aerator to effectively separate stuck sheets within a currency load, thus minimizing lost production.
  • Be responsible for reloading work in preparation of the next process.

  • Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
  • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
  • Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.

Physical Requirements:
Work performed is constant and active.

Requires:

  • Full free usage of hands and arms, finger dexterity and hand­ eye-coordination.
  • Pushes and pulls using hand and electric floor jacks.
  • Lifting of ink buckets, appropriate amounts of paper lifted to be stacked or other related items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Extensive walking, standing, bending, climbing, and kneeling on concrete and metal walkways.

  • The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for work days during the shutdown period.

  • This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting."
