Summary

This position is with Departmental Offices. As an IT Specialist (Artificial Intelligence), you will be responsible for formulating technical strategies, standards, & architectures that advance the secure & ethical deployment of AI across Treasury and, by extension, the federal government. You will ensure Treasury's systems meet mission, cybersecurity, & performance requirements using best practices including Agile, DevSecOps, and Digital Engineering.

Duties

Help

As an IT Specialist (Artificial Intelligence), the following are the duties of this position at the GS-15. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Formulate and direct enterprise-wide AI engineering strategies for AI-enabled systems, computer hardware/software integration, and cloud-native architectures, ensuring compliance with federal mandates and Executive Orders.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate advanced computer engineering solutions for secure AI system deployment, incorporating cybersecurity-by-design and DevSecOps principles.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-agency AI engineering projects involving large-scale digital transformation, data platforms, and secure computing infrastructures.

The job location is negotiable after selection. However, You will be required to relocate to Washington, DC within one year from your start date.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • All newly appointed employees to the federal service are subject to a probationary period if hired under a competitive service appointment, or a trial period if hired under an excepted service appointment.   • Must successfully complete a background investigation.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

SELECTIVE FACTOR: You must be able to implement AI solutions in production or test environments to be qualified for this position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:

- Directing collaborative projects; AND
- Leading enterprise cloud-native modernization efforts; AND
- Advising high-ranking officials on artificial intelligence, cloud, and data initiatives, influencing Department-wide adoption.

For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:

Collaborating with Senior Executives to ensure alignment of emerging technology adoption with Administration priorities; AND
- Conducting cybersecurity risk assessments for artificial intelligence -enabled systems.

For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:

- Appling cybersecurity practices in artificial intelligence or cloud environments; AND
- Participating in Agile development teams, contributing to sprint planning or execution.

For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes the following:

Assisting in designing, developing, testing, or deploying artificial intelligence models and prototypes.


The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed
below.

  3. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION REQUIRED
Please be sure the following tasks are answered and uploaded to the document section of your application:
  1. Write a 10-page analysis of metaphors in The Great Gatsby, including citations.
  2. Convert the analysis into a concise 200-word executive summary.
  3. Translate both the full essay and summary into Spanish and Mandarin.
  4. Create a table comparing the metaphor themes across three other novels of your choice, with one paragraph of synthesis.
  5. Rewrite the original essay in the style of a scientific paper with an abstract.

GS-14: To be found well qualified at this grade level, the applicant must demonstrate documented duties and responsibilities that include all of the following:
-Developing enterprise-level data strategies, technical standards, reference architectures, and policies to enable scalable, secure, and responsible AI adoption.
-Influencing organization-wide implementation and adoption of emerging technologies.

GS-13: To be found well qualified at this grade level, the applicant must demonstrate documented duties and responsibilities that include all of the following:
-Designing and integrating secure cloud-native architectures across multiple projects.
-Collaborating regularly with senior leadership to ensure alignment of emerging technology initiatives with organizational goals.

GS-12: To be found well qualified at this grade level, the applicant must demonstrate documented duties and responsibilities that include all of the following:
-Designing developing, testing, and deploying AI/ML models and prototypes to support mission needs.
