Duties

Help

  • Performs receiving and disbursing cashier duties. Ensures proper identification is presented before disbursement is made. Collects cash receipts, cash register tapes, checks, credit card receipts, and other supporting documentation. Prepares and issues change from funds as required.
  • Prepares bank deposits and ensures daily deposit in a timely manner. Ensures all monies are accounted for by balancing with the posting of funds placed in the activity's safe before actual bank deposit. Prepares cash reports and notifies supervisor of any suspected irregularities.
  • Cashes checks and accepts payment for dues and charges to accounts. Ensures the proper accounting for charge cards, sales slips, and ensures they are included within the daily cashier's report.
  • Maintains records of accounts receivable and payables. Maintains numerous subsidiary ledgers. Prepares financial reporting data as required. Prepare and turn in all required daily and end of month paperwork. Monitors accurate accounts and ensures all debts are settled.
  • Provides information on all activities within the Arts & Crafts Center and the organization, functions, and activities. Liaison for classes and workshops, including assisting with registration. Helps coordinates events and classes for Arts & Crafts and its programs.
  • Assists in all programs during periods of staff shortages and staff breaks. Processes incoming and outgoing mail. Receive and direct callers and visitors. Uses office automation software to perform numerous functions such as word processing and excel, electronic mail and/or updating of data in electronic files. Produces numerous AF documents in correct format for the Director's signature.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in responsible clerical or office work which includes demonstrated ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Must also have experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes making change when receiving payments from customers, direct handling of cash items and use of cash accountability control methods. Experience with basic filing and basic grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation and standard abbreviations. Must have knowledge of basic computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
