Duties

Help

Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of day-to-day operation of the JB-MDL Fitness Center. Serves as desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment and adhere to Fitness Center policy. Greets visitors, answers telephones, makes reservations for classes or use of equipment and facilities, and provides information on scheduled events and classes. Directly assists the Fitness Director in administrative duties and daily Fitness Center tasks. Provides direct assistance and detailed instruction to patrons in proper use of cardio-respiratory equipment and weightlifting equipment. Teaches fitness/aerobic classes and has proper certifications in order to instruct classes and provide personalized training. Inspects all fitness equipment/sports equipment/facilities according to established Air Force standards and local fire and safety procedures. Reports damaged exercise/sports equipment to supervisor and initiates repair of all equipment. Provides oversight of contractors that provide services in the Fitness Center and reports findings directly to Fitness Director. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities in accordance with written Air Poree guidelines. Maintains and prepares Fitness Center facilities, grounds, and equipment for daily use, programs, and special functions. May supervise, lead, oversee and/or coordinate the daily activities of other employees engaged in the performances of their duties. Initiates and assists in advertising and recruiting participants for intramural teams, tournaments, special events and fitness classes. May be required to schedule and administer these activities in the capacity of a tournament director/fitness coordinator. Ensures activities are properly scheduled, facilities are set up and rules and regulations are observed. Assist the Fitness Director with marketing plans, provides data to marketing on event results for publishing, and may research appropriate items for special functions and request commercial sponsorship for event. Prepares invoice for payment for instructional programs, resale operations, sports officials, and completes required documentation for financial transactions. Conducts inventory on all sports and fitness equipment, recommends new equipment purchase, liaisons with fitness industry professional for equipment purchases and prepares paper.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience which provides a basic knowledge and understanding of fitness center operations. Must have a working knowledge of fitness machinery and equipment. Must have experience in the receipt, disbursement. examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes direct handling of cash items, and use of cash accountability control methods.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
