Duties

Help
  • Serve as a supervisor over the Railroad Trackage Section to approximately 25 subordinate workers.
  • Perform full supervisory responsibility overseeing and directing work operations.
  • Determine the equipment and supplies needed for each work site.
  • Develop performance requirements and make formal and informal performance appraisals.
  • Schedule and approval of leave for subordinates.

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 65% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete the Railroad Safety Course within 30 days of being appointed to this position and attend Railroad Safety refresher course.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Track Inspector Certification within 1 year of being assigned to this position.
  • Incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate a light motor vehicle.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Railroad Maintenance Vehicle Operator Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Assist with planning and training, provide mentorship with other employees and operate basic railway equipment. I can assist with prioritizing workload, identify training needs, and perform basic railroad maintenance vehicle operations. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
