Duties

Help
  • Performs a wide range of duties related to the receipt, storage, and distribution of sensitive and/or classified materials and equipment.
  • Assists in the investigation of unusual supply and storage operation problems, such as major losses/gains of inventory, abnormal storage or shipping processing time.
  • Ensures material received agrees in quantity, mark, number and condition with existing shipping/receiving documents. Checks material on hand against the amount listed in the logistics enterprise system and reconciles any discrepancies.
  • Prepares, processes, packages, and certifies hazardous cargo to comply with applicable regulations. Ensures the proper weight and load configuration of loaded cargo for all modes of transportation.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a minimum of 2 years of current driving experience operating tractor-trailers.
  • This position is designated for drug testing. May be subject to urinalysis testing prior to appointment and subject to random urinalysis testing during employment.
  • Must be able to lift cargo weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Will be required to operate various electric, gas and diesel powered vehicles, to include forklifts, pallet loaders and tractor/trailers in performance of duties to move material for warehouse storage, or packing/crating and loading for transport.
  • Vision must be correctable to 20/40
  • Subject to uncommon tour of duty to meet priority on emergency situations.
  • May be called in on weekends and holidays and is subject to evening call back or extending past normal shift duty to handle priorities.
  • May be required to perform these duties in a temporary travel status, away from the home office location, for extended periods of time. May be required to drive 24 hours a day for extended period.
  • Physical and concentrated effort is required in operating heavy cargo vehicles in adverse weather conditions, exposed to traffic hazards, congested freeways in areas where maneuverability is difficult
  • As well as exposed to noise, vibration and engines fumes. May be exposed to danger of injury from falling objects during loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Required to pass a Department of Transportation commercial driver’s physical examination.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be performed 35% of the time or greater.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain HAZMAT Certification.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A commercial driver's license with hazardous materials endorsement for the operation of vehicles over 26,000 GVW, per AFI-24-301 and Public Law 99-570 license and drive 24 hours a day over long distances.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing supply transactions for accuracy; ensures shipments are correct and undamaged; and preparing packages for shipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: supply chain management, logistics, etc.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
