As a EDUCATION SERVICES SPECIALIST - Title 32, GS-1740-9, you will serve as program manager, advisor and consultant within the state. The incumbent has responsibility for the development, management and administration of an education and incentive programs designed to provide individual career-related or self development assistance and planning requirements for Army National Guard military personnel.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

Military Grades: E5 through E6

Conditions of Employment

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which involves the abilities to administer, supervise, promote, coordinate, conduct and evaluate programs, activities, or opportunities designed to provide individualized career-related or self-development education plans. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must have at least 24 months of experiences that demonstrated the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (Competencies/KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position. Basic knowledge of Army vision, values, organization, policy, and mission is mandatory. Have some experiences in conducting or developing education programs. Basic understanding in the Army education policy requirements. Some experiences in working programs to include developmental education, voluntary education, advanced academic education, promotion testing, and libraries. Knowledge is necessary of audio-visual presentation, educational tests and measurements, and instructing techniques.
