Duties

Help
  • In a Snack Bar prepares a limited variety of short order fast food items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fish and chicken sandwiches, pizzas, French fries, etc. Prepares/slices lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and other vegetables.
  • Assures that tables/work surfaces are promptly cleared and cleaned; cleans other work areas to include walls, floors, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Serves as cashier in the snack bar, receiving payment by cash or charge; completes cash report at the end of assigned shift.; orders fast food items, condiments, and other necessary supplies. Takes delivery of supplies and ensures proper storage.
  • Accepts food orders from patrons and serves alcoholic beverages. Coordinates food and beverage needs for special events, not limited to preparing and serving food and cleaning work areas.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Certificate of Medical Examination is required.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Light to heavy physical effort is required; frequently lifts and moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds, occasionally lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds.
  • There are requirements to walk, stoop, bend, pull, push, and reach, frequently and to stand for long periods of time; may be required to work on ladders and use power cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to work an irregular schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
  • Incumbent must have the mental, physical, oral, and audio ability to perform all of the duties of this job in both a satisfactory and safe manner.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Experience or training that indicates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position consistent with acceptable practices of the trade including but not limited to:
  1. Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.
  2. Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
  3. Ability to keep things neat, clean, and in order.
  4. Possess basic food preparation and handling techniques.
  5. Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
  6. Knowledge of basic sanitation principles.
  7. Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
  8. Able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds and frequently walk, bend, stoop, pull, push and reach.

Area of Consideration

  • This job is open to candidates who is within the Local / Surrounding Commuting Area. NOTE: Local / Surrounding Commuting area is defines as within 50 miles of Fort. Bragg. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
