Summary

You will serve as a TECHNICAL WRITER - EDITOR in the NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING SYSTEM COMMAND of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER.

GS-11: $86,199.00 to $112,053.00 per year.
GS-12: $103,316.00 to $134,317.00 per year.

Help
  • You will perform layout of graphics and text, using desktop publishing hardware and software.
  • You will edit rough drafts for highly technical scientific and engineering text.
  • You will assist engineers and scientists with software conversion (e.g., Word Perfect to Microsoft Word) of texts and technical drafts for final report submission.
  • You will perform or assist with the development, assembly revisions and maintenance of technical data and illustrations.
  • You will use desktop publishing tools to plan and implement new formats or products suitable for new media and accessible to specialized audiences.

Qualifications

For the GS-12 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Perform writing, editing, researching, formatting, and reviewing products. 2) Utilizing desktop publishing technology to draft, edit, design, ability to operate a computer with extensive experience in industry standard word processing programs; 3) Review publications, briefs, brochures and recommends changes; 4) Selecting appropriate text, layout, and styles to meet regulatory guidelines; 5) Editing technical material for grammar, writing; detailed knowledge of various writing, editing, printing, and publication standards in order to produce documents for worldwide distribution.

For the GS-11 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Editing technical scientific and engineering text for data and source verification, grammar, and conformance to command requirements; 2) Editing technical reports, guide specs, military handbooks, brochures/flyers, technical memoranda, and/or administrative documents to convert/produce error-free documents; 3) Ensuring quality of work produced so final products meet client requirements and expectations; 4) Assisting departments with issuing, reissuing, and/or canceling directives.
