This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021.

As a Workforce Support Specialist at the NH-0301-2 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Provides support in Talent Operations, which involves a wide range of human resources work, including supporting the coordination, development, analysis of human resources and manpower management programs.
  • Supports programs to include recruitment and retention, onboarding, classification, compliance, records management, Acq Demo activities, and employment recognition programs.
  • Determining organizational and individual talent learning and development needs; development of talent management programs and policies; work-life programs, employee experience, Acq Demo activities, and diversity programs.
  • Participation in gathering, verifying and analyzing information, identifying issues, and developing recommendations to resolve substantive problems of effectiveness and efficiency of work operations in a program or project.
  • Utilizes basic tools and techniques of the specialized field (e.g. analytical methods, financial systems, data collection methods, automated applications, etc) to interpret, select, adapt and apply many guidelines, precedents, principles, and practices, which relate to the administrative specialty area.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NH-02, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. General Experience: Three years of progressively responsible general experience, one year of which was equivalent to at least the NH-01 or GS-04 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Overseeing day to day administrative services and/or management support programs and functions (supplies, mail, information technology, agreements, access control, training, etc.) and respond to issues and inquiries.
  • Assisting in the coordination of Human Resources support functions actions such as appraisals, awards, training requests, recruitment incentives, preparing spreadsheets, and requests for reports, charts, and other documents.
  • Proficient use of standard office computers and software programs to include: Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, One Note, One Drive), Adobe, etc.
  • Utilizing automated systems and databases to prepare and edit documents, correspondence, memorandums, forms, graphics, briefing charts and maintains files/records for an organization.

C. Combination:
Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualifications and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total
percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.

**NOTE: If using education in lieu of specialized experience Transcripts are required. Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
