Help
  • Serves as senior technical authority supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Cyber Defense Command (DCDC) in Defensive Cyber Operation Internal Defensive Measures (DCO-IDM) techniques, tactics, procedures, design, and network monitoring.
  • Identifies solutions for complex issues associated with current and future operations and assesses effectiveness of ongoing operations to improve timely resolution across the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN).
  • Provides overarching direction and guidance in Division efforts designed to detect, deter, prevent, and respond to strategic attacks against the DODIN.
  • Provides staff level DODIN operational advice, guidance and oversight regarding the policy, planning, and technical understanding of threat operations.
  • Plans and directs work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets priorities, and establishes completion dates.

  • In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
  • This is a Term Appointment position not to exceed two (2) years.
  • This is a drug testing position.
  • Obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements:

Attention to Detail - Experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.

Customer Service - Developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs.

Oral Communication - Briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience.

Problem Solving - Identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must possess qualifying experience.

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify based on your experience at the GG-14 grade level, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as:

Experience working in defensive cyberspace operations, network operations, and cyberspace related projects that demonstrates the ability to monitor the cyber defense network.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-14 grade level.

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.
  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This is a Term Appointment position Not to Exceed two (2) years. Incumbent may be eligible for noncompetitive conversion to a permanent CES appointment at a later date should a position become available. The duration of the appointment will be identified at the time a job offer is extended but may be extended in 1-year increments up to a maximum time served of 8 years.
  • Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006.
  • This position is subject to completion of 1 year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
  • In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) as a condition of employment.
  • Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.

  • This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency.
