Duties

Help
  • Performs near-term and long-range strategic planning and analysis evaluating programs and issues for the organization, producing tasks and Operations Orders (OPORDs) for the Division’s elements
  • Oversees and analyzes crime and incident statistics (ie: ISR, COMPSTAT, and Man-Power Allocation)that identify trends developing action plans and recommendations for the Deputy Chief of Police on deployment of police assets.
  • Patrols areas of White Sands as directed, including paved/unpaved roads, recreational areas ,training areas, cantonment and housing, ranges, etc.
  • Conducts initial police investigations. Recommends changes to reduce opportunities for theft and illegal entry

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Federal law requires the removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies.
  • The incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56:
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification, and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations, or statutes
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception from the Office of the Provost Marshal General, IAW AR 190-56.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) directing the activities of subordinates engaged in law enforcement activities; 2) coordinating emergency responses between emergency units; 3) ensuring patrols are in compliance with police standard operating procedures; 4) utilizing laws and regulations to maintain order and protect life or property; 5) responding to calls for police assistance and emergency situations; 6) conducting investigations of crimes or suspected criminal activities

Education
