Summary


This position will be assigned to the JBSA-Lackland Golf Course.

This is a flexible category position with no guaranteed hrs. May work up to 40 hrs./wk. Scheduled as needed. Employees appointed to flexible position are not eligible for benefits.

Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to frequently stoop, bend, reach, and climb.

Duties

Help

Operates field-type tractors with attachments to maintain the grasses at the golf course. Operates a variety of equipment to include but not limited to the following: mowers, aerators, plows, harrows, clippers, sprayers, disks, post hole diggers, moveable dozer, blades, backhoe, and other equipment ranging from small handheld applicators to tractor drawn liquid and solid dispensers. Makes all adjustments to equipment to ensure proper settings, connections, and mechanical soundness of equipment. Observes all safety rules and regulations pertaining to vehicle operation. Performs operator maintenance on field-type tractors and related equipment. Operates motor vehicles with a GVW of more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 pounds. Carries a variety of materials on truck such as soil, tree trunks, and limbs, cuttings, water and etc. Drives truck throughout base and to/from the Golf Course. Operates such driving controls as brake pedals, clutch pedal, gear shift lever and accelerator. Must apply knowledge of the trucks turning and braking capacity, load limits, and clearance. Performs operator maintenance, such as checking and replenishing fluids to proper levels, examining and changing filters, changing and sharpening blades, lubricating equipment, and making necessary adjustments. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience:
Must have the experience in operating and performing maintenance on field-type tractors and associated equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
1. Must have knowledge of and skill in operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 pounds.
2. Must have the ability to manipulate both tractor and equipment controls at the same time.
3. Must have knowledge of equipment to make connections on mechanical drive shafts and hydraulic lines.
4. Must have skill to manipulate equipment over different types of terrain.
