This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service

Duties

Help
  • Plan, schedules and coordinates the day-to-day work of technologists, both military and civilian assigned to the imaging section and receptionists assigned to the front desk. Maintains the quality control program for the Nuclear Medicine
  • Compile daily workload statistics.
  • Participate with supervisor in the review and improvement of work methods.
  • Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents and products by designing and implementing instrument, reagent and product check systems.
  • Develop and maintain quality control portions of procedural agency and laboratory needs.
  • Prepare appropriate doses of the eluent for patient administration and the preparation of radiopharmaceutical compounds to be used in specific diagnostic procedures.
  • Knowledge of professional nuclear medicine technology principles, practices, concepts, theory and technique sufficient to develop and establish procedures for nuclear medicine studies, perform the more difficult.
  • Calculate amount and volume of activity to be administered following prescribed procedures.

  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued,required level of physical health / ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis. hours are as follows 0630 – 1500, 0700 – 1530, 0730 – 1600.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.
  • Must obtain a valid American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) certification or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT).
  • This position has been designated as "Mission Essential"

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional;philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal Service which includes 1)Maintaining the quality control program for the Nuclear Medicine Service. Maintains documentation for regulatory agency compliance.; 2)planning, schedules and coordinates the day-to-day work of technologists, both military and civilian assigned to the imaging section and receptionists assigned to the front desk.; and 3) Conducting quality control procedures on equipment, reagents and products by designing and implementing instrument, reagent and product check systems. Evaluates results and implements corrective actions when indicated.4.)Evaluating new quality control protocols to determine their suitability for local use.This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Licensure /Certification:Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer Radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75.Essentially they must 1) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and 2) be certified as radiographers in their field.All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA)Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
