Duties

Help

The Website Administrator and Multimedia Technologist will be responsible for providing web services and operating support for the museum's Drupal-based, public-facing website.

In this position, you will:

  • Oversee program development, program implementation and overall functionality associated with the Museum's mobile application of media technologies.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for the Museum's website in collaboration with the Smithsonian's central Office of the Chief Information Officer and in compliance with accessibility mandates.
  • Perform system design, web application baselining, testing, quality assurance, Search Engine Optimization, IT security vulnerability remediation, implementation, and documentation.
  • Serve as a contracting officer's representative and technical point of contact for contracts and task orders related to maintaining and enhancing the website.
  • Consult across a broad range of graphics, video, audio, mobile, streaming, and other multimedia technologies.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-XX level in the Federal Service.  For this position, specialized experience is defined as providing day-to-day operational support for a cultural institution's website in collaboration with its office for information technology and in compliance with accessibility mandates; overseeing program development, program implementation and overall functionality with the organization's mobile application of media technologies; and performing system design, web application baselining, testing, quality assurance, search engine optimization, information technology security vulnerability remediation, implementation, and documentation..

Applicants who meet or exceed minimum qualifications will be assigned to one of three category groups based on job-related criteria:

  • Best Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and excels in most of the job-related competencies above.
  • Better Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and satisfies most of the job-related competencies above.
  • Good Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements but does not satisfy most of the job-related competencies above to a substantive degree.

This category rating process does not add veterans' preference points or apply the "rule of three" but protects the rights of veterans by placing them ahead of non-preference eligibles within each category. A selecting official may make selections from the highest quality category (Best Category) provided no preference eligible in that category is passed over to select a non-preference eligible in that category unless the requirements of 5 U.S.C. 3317(b) or 3318(b) are satisfied.
