Help
  • Exercises technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers.
  • Plans the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials based on workload projections on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, in accordance with general work schedules, methods, and policies established by higher-level supervisors.
  • Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
  • Assigns work to individual workers by verbal or written instructions.
  • Monitors work in progress and inspects completed work to assure work order requirements.
  • Sets performance standards for subordinates and makes formal appraisals of their work performance.
  • Counsels employees and discusses informal complaints and grievances with workers and union representatives.
  • Initiates disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Maintains work reports and records.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain licenses and/or certifications required by the installation, federal, state, and local laws.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a Government Credit Card, Government Passport and the DLA Distribution J9 published requirements for all personal health, license and other qualifications for deployment.
  • Requires specialized knowledge through formal training with required hazardous material classes and must maintain a passing grade for retention in the position.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.

  • I assist with planning and organizing work activities for employees. Examples Include: Advise supervisor of problems involving disciplinary actions and counseling on conduct. Set goals and deadlines for accomplishing work. Provide instructions to employees on work procedures and safety.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Effort: Stands on hard surfaces maintaining balance for extended periods of time. Work requires bending, stooping, reaching and twisting in tiring and uncomfortable positions, many times all at the same time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. Uses weight handling equipment or receives assistance from other workers for items heavier than 40 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when operating materials handling equipment.

Working Conditions: Work is performed within a warehouse or storage environment that may or may not have air conditioning or heating. Works outside and inside in areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, and poorly lighted. Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise , abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. May be exposed to dusty, dirty or greasy conditions. Must possess or be able to obtain all appropriate state and governmental licenses. Working conditions are a normal part of the job and are considered in the evaluation of the position.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.

Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test. Employees in drug testing designated positions are subject to random drug testing.

The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.

ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug and is illegal.
