About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Food & Beverages Facilities of the 6th Force Support Squadron Community Service Flight, MacDill AFB, FL.

The purpose of this position is to supervise the preparation and serving of hot and cold beverages, food and bar items from a limited coffee/bar operation located in lodging. This position is that of a working supervisor.

Duties

Help

Supervises food and bar service employees. Establishes work schedules for assigned employees, assists with hiring and all personnel and disciplinary actions, appraisals and awards for subordinate employees; provides day to day planning and scheduling of work assignments. Provides instructions, gets the work started and sets the work pace. Coordinates the work of lower grade food service workers engaged in a variety of standard food prep operations simultaneously at the work center. Provides instructions in food preparation principles and techniques and food protection procedures. Directs, assigns and monitors tasks to food and bar service workers. Provides instructions and training to lower grade employees on sanitation and safety practices. Evaluates the performance of employees. Responsible for ensuring all food and beverage is properly prepared and given to customers in accordance with the order given and charges.

May sell posted menu items, daily specials and a limited variety of prepared food items such as bagels, croissants, cookies, snacks and drinks. May operate cash register, ring up sales, receive payment (cash, credit cards) and tender change. At the end of each shift, ensures all monies are accounted for by balancing with register tape. Prepares cashier's reports and make deposits. Prepares cash reports and notifies supervisor of any suspected irregularities. Maintains facility in a clean and orderly manner. May clean interior and exterior of facility daily. Spot cleans areas and equipment as needed during operating hours. At the end of the day, makes sure area and equipment are clean. Removes all pans at closing; washes, rinses and sanitizes them. Cleans tabletops, chairs and counters as needed throughout the shift. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area. Performs daily, weekly and monthly cleaning as scheduled. Receives and inspects orders, brings discrepancies to supervisor's attention. Stores food in accordance with standard procedures. Conduct inventories and orders needed supplies. Restocks racks and coolers with food, bar and beverage items.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Ability to supervise three or more workers to accomplish assignments. Must have experience in and thorough knowledge of food preparation and characteristics-of food. Must have knowledge in either bartending or mixology. Must be able to plan, coordinate and time sequence steps needed to prepare food items on time without overcooking or waste. Experience and knowledge must have been gained in a restaurant, club cafeteria or similar establishment. Must possess skills in dealing with the public. Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must meet appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages. Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check.
