Summary

Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. The primary function of the incumbent of this position is to perform cashiering tasks. Incumbent greets guests, escorts them to table and alerting server that table has been seated.

Duties

Help

  • Uses Point of Sales (POS) to collect fees from customers associated with sales.
  • Rings sales and/or ticket sales by individual items. Is responsible for turning in receipts at the end of each shift.
  • Follows procedures for safeguarding cash.
  • Greets guests and directs them to tables. When applicable, alerts the server that the table has been seated in their station.
  • Reserves tables for guests as appropriate.
  • Assists in setting up for parties and catered events.
  • Answers patron's questions in a pleasant, courteous manner.
  • Ensures the proper preparation, display and price marking of items and adherence to correct receipt and pricing procedures.
  • Performs some housekeeping duties as needed, including washing dishes, sweeping floors, wiping down tables and taking out trash.
  • Assists with the coordination, operation, and maintenance of the facility during his/her shift.
  • Handles phone inquiries.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required.
  • Available for varying shifts to include some nights, weekends, and holiday may be required.
  • Incumbent required attendance of sanitation training course to obtain valid health card.
  • Work is primarily standing; however some walking, carrying and light lifting (15-15 lbs.) is occasionally required in support of special events and functions.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic to compute charges, disperse change accurately, and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of MWR policies, rules, and regulations related to the assigned work area.
  • Skill in providing excellent customer service obtained through prior experience and training.
  • Ability to operate a point of sales system or cash register.
  • Ability to competently and independently carry out day-to-day operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
