Duties

  • Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trades and/or crafts supervised, and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity / Equal Employment Treatment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
  • Ability to manage overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions, and implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 General Maintenance And Operations Work Family . Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Their expertise encompasses a comprehensive understanding of diverse trades and crafts, including process improvement methodologies, coupled with in-depth knowledge of government personnel management policies such as DPMAP, AcqDemo, and bargaining employee regulations, as well as EEO/Sexual Harassment prevention.

Proficient in safety regulations, practices, and procedures, this individual demonstrates a proven ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. They excel at planning and organizing work assignments, efficiently allocating resources to meet mission objectives. A key strength lies in their capacity to anticipate and strategically plan for the long-term requirements of their flight, translating broad goals into actionable imperatives and well-researched white papers that inform impactful decisions.

Confident in their leadership abilities, the ideal candidate is adept at providing comprehensive direction and coordination of subordinate work activities, implementing sound personnel policies and practices across all levels of supervision. An effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, they persuasively engage diverse audiences. Their proficiency in building consensus and influencing key stakeholders fosters collaborative achievements. This leader must excel at coordinating and communicating with peer Flight Chiefs, cultivating a synergistic environment where collaboration permeates the Squadron from leadership to all levels.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
