Duties

Help

Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of The Adjutant General's (TAG) Integrated Primary Prevention (IPP) Program. Ensures legal and regulatory requirements as well as the needs of National Guard (NG) Service members, families and communities are met. Monitors and advises on activities of subordinate IPP programs. Acquires communications, automated feedback mechanisms and computer systems to collect, transmit, analyze, portray, and integrate cross-functional, programmatic, and organizational information. Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:
Incumbent functions under the general supervision of the Adjutant General (SES equivalent) and NGB. Due to the uniqueness and relatively new program mission, incumbent is expected to exercise independent leadership and decision making. Incumbent applies pertinent directives to local use for accomplishment of assigned responsibilities, and applies initiative and sound judgment to managerial decisions to ensure mission accomplishment.

  • Must be able to obtain required certifications, as applicable.
  • May convert to Permanent without further competition.

Qualifications

Must have experience or knowledge in each of the following:
1. Experience in the organization, management, and administration of programs and services to develop and administer Primary Prevention policies; ensure policy relates to applicable legislation, official policy and guidance to effectively direct, plan, develop and execute the Primary Prevention Program.
2. Experience in the development and maintenance of public understanding and sound working relationships with Federal, State, local and community agencies.
3. Experience in applying professional community organization abilities related to the formulation of needs assessments, development of prevention programs, and the marketing of programs.
4. Knowledge of policies and requirements for the development and analysis of the Prevention Programs efforts in order to integrate effective prevention measures.
5. Knowledge of analytical techniques to identify, analyze and/or recommend solutions to problems encountered and to develop Statistical data and narrative reports to senior levels of leadership.

Education

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.

or

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.

or

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Preferred education:
- A master's degree or higher in a prevention related field.
