The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs is searching for an Information Technology Specialist Branch Chief for the SWAC (NH-2210-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Description:
The Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC) is the foundational element to develop and provide authoritative Force Design recommendations for the United States Space Force (USSF). The SWAC conducts studies, analyses, modeling and wargaming to create concepts and identify feasible, affordable, and resilient future force capabilities.

Serves as the directorate's plans and programs subject matter expert, with emphasis on IT project management, system's administration, and network operations. Oversees the day-to day technical aspects of internal networked information systems security to include acquisition, configuration, deployment, and maintenance supporting the SWAC's internal information systems security requirements. Advocates for early technology support in the development of acquisition strategies, performs technical assessments, establishes technical standards, transitions and integrates technologies, provides technology planning oversight of contractor and other government personnel, and reviews program technical execution. Individuals ensure the technology road map and information technology strategic plan aligns with Department of the Air Force specific requirements.

Ideal Candidate:
Candidate must have knowledge of information systems security and technical operations. Knowledge of information security architectures and operations. Ability to develop and evaluate information systems security and data dissemination architectures for networked applications. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. Ability to identify problems, develop timely, economical and innovative solutions. Ability to plan and organize work as well as work effectively as a team member. Mustt have a TS SCI Clearance and eligible for a Polygraph.
Knowledge of information systems security program planning and budget cycles. Ability to execute projects and/or studies within established financial and time parameters.

Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups within and outside immediate work unit including field-level representatives. Ability to advise senior leaders regarding information system security requirements and processes. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and written, and present briefings to senior leaders, Air Staff and equivalent counterparts. "This is a cyber security position; the employee will attain appropriate DoD approved cyber security baseline certificate(s) applicable for cyber security functions required for the DoD position held, within six months of filling position IAW DoD 8570.01-M."

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • May be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • Employee is in a designated position that requires consent and thereafter be subject to and successfully complete, an initial, periodic and random counterintelligence (CI)-scope polygraph examination as a condition of employment.
  • Physical Required: Condition of employment.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 20 days per year.
  • PCS is not authorized. Incentive is not authorized.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework".
  • This is a cybersecurity position; the employee will attain appropriate DoD approved cybersecurity baseline certificate(s) applicable for cybersecurity functions required for the DoD position held.
