Summary

The VCS Central Office, located at the Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO, is conducting a recruitment search for an Accountant in our Finance Center. In this role, you will report to the Supervisory Accountant and play a critical role in the operations of the Finance Center.

Duties

Help

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Account Analysis and Reconciliation: Analyzes and reconciles various accounts and transactions to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Financial Reporting and Year-End Support: Prepares routine financial reports and assists with the year-end close-out process.
Development of Accounting Procedures: Develops procedural instructions for creating or modifying automated accounting systems and specific program areas.
Financial Data Analysis and Recommendations: Analyzes financial data, providing insights and recommending solutions to resolve complex financial issues.
General Ledger and Subsidiary Account Reconciliation: Resolves discrepancies between the general ledger and subsidiary accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
Additional Responsibilities & Flexibility: Perform and adapt to additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Professional Experience in Financial Reporting: At least two years of experience in formulating various financial reports and handling financial data.
Strong Knowledge of Accounting Principles: A solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Proficiency in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and resolving issues.
Decision-Making Ability: Capable of making informed decisions based on financial data and analysis.
Budget and Year-End Close-Out Support: Experience assisting with budget management and year-end financial close-outs.

Education

Completion of 24 semester hours in accounting, which may include up to 6 semester hours in business law: OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting: OR
A degree in a related field, such as business administration, finance, or public administration, supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
