The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson Space Force Base is searching for a Division Chief for Installations and Mission Support (NH-0801-04, GS-14/15).

Description:
Are you ready to lead and shape the future of installations and mission support at Space Systems Command (SSC)? As the Deputy SSC/S4 and Installation and Mission Support Division Chief, you will provide Supervisory Civil Engineering oversight and integration to SSC's installations and facilities management functions. Working closely with the S4 Director, you will oversee and direct the development and implementation of installations, logistics, and product support policies and directives for programs of national scope and significance. This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact on SSC's mission while driving innovation and excellence in logistics and infrastructure management. In this pivotal role, you will serve as SSC's Chief Civil Engineer, coordinating critical installation activities such as Strategic Basing, Spaceport of the Future, MILCON, Facility Sustainment Restoration and Modernization, Weapon System Infrastructure, Facilities Product Support to Acquisition Programs and Installation Readiness supporting Space Launch and other missions. You will lead efforts like the Monthly Command Installation Board and collaborate with key organizations, including HQ Space Force, USSF Combat Forces Command, Air Force Materiel Command, Air Force Installation Mission Support Center, SAF/IE, and Air Force Research Lab. Leveraging cutting-edge initiatives like AFWERX and SPACEWERKs, you will drive innovation in installation activities. Ideal Candidate:
Masters Engineering Degree, Bold leadership at the CE squadron and staff levels, Strong Communication skills; Strong Installation Professional Network, Acquisition Engineering DAWIA certification, Professional Engineering certification preferred but not required; Must be TS-SCI eligible


Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, and techniques to apply experimental theories and new developments to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods, and to plan and execute specialized programs of marked difficulty, responsibility, and significance.
2. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence systems acquisition, development, and/or sustainment; and knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on expenditure of funds.
3. Knowledge of and skill in evaluating state-of-the-art and advancements in theory, application, technology, and policy affecting systems being developed, and in planning, organizing, and directing the functions and staff in critical aspects of development, production, and/or support of systems, subsystems, or equipment.
4. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
5. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, building consensus and coalitions, negotiating, and resolving conflicts with a variety of individuals and organizations as well as communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of an organization, and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff through subordinate supervisors as well as analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/ SCI clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • PCS funding is authorized.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework"
  • Position will close in 5 business days or 75 applications (whichever comes first).
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 20 days per year.
  • A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
  • The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
  • This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
