Help
  • Assess and monitor patients' condition during transport.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • You must undergo a Child Care Background Check investigation and periodic re-verification to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy a position having regular contact with children.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification., Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification., and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a paramedic certification in the state of North Carolina or in a state on the National Registry with North Carolina reciprocity.
  • This position requires critical care certification, Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) or Critical Care Paramedic Certification (CCP-C), or Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program (CCEMTP) Certification within 20 months from start date.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 1 year of start date.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to lift materials and/or personnel weighing up to 150 pounds individually, and up to 250 pounds assisted.
  • In accordance with DoD Instruction 1402.05, personnel involved in the health and mental health care to children under the age of eighteen must receive a Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assessing patients' medical status and reporting to subsequent care providers; administering a variety of medications and critical care interventions to patients during transport; and operating emergency vehicles safely and efficiently. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: emergency medicine, emergency care, or emergency health services.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
