Duties

Help
  • Serves as principal advisor to the Commander concerning all real estate (RE) programs, activities, and issues.
  • Provides management and coordination between districts concerning RE matters and activities; resolves conflicts between districts.
  • Plans and directs the RE programs including the specialized functional areas of Acquisition, Appraisal, Management and Disposal, Planning and Control, Base Closure, programs for Recruiting, and other special projects or programs as appropriate.
  • Develops, allocates and reprograms adequate funding and manpower requirements for MSC and district RE requirements.
  • Reviews and approves RE portion of quality control plans and implementation of pre-authorization and post-authorization reports submitted to the HQUSACE to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and delegations of authorities.
  • Sets priorities and goals for completion of work.
  • Assigns work to subordinates who are technical experts in their designated program segment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Applying knowledge of real estate principles sufficient to oversee a real estate (RE) program that includes one or more of the following specialized functional areas: Acquisition, Appraisal, Management and Disposal, Planning and Control, Base Closure; 2) Exercising authority, leadership and oversight to ensure work products are in compliance with RE principles, laws, and policy; 3) Applying knowledge of budget administration sufficient to evaluate funding recommendations; and 4) Establishing overall goals and objectives, areas of special interest, and matters of priority with regard to a real estate program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
