This vacancy announcement is for a Dual-Status Technician position which requires active membership in the New Jersey National Guard (uniformed military service). Official appointment is not effective until membership within the New Jersey National Guard is confirmed by the gaining Human Resources Office.

Duties

Help

The primary purpose is to serve as a first level supervisor over subordinates. Plans, directs, and manages operational and training matters pertaining to assigned refueling technicians performs aircrew duties as an aerial refueling technician/instructor in the unit type aircraft.


As an SUPERVISORY AERIAL REFUELING TECHNICIAN (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-11, you will:

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the aerial refueling section, ensuring that operational and training duties pertaining to aerial refueling technicians comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet organizational mission.
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities
  • Develops and provides training for aerial refueling technician instructors and flight examiners as well as aerial refueling aircrew upgrade and proficiency training/instruction as needed
  • As required, flies as an aircrew member in unit aircraft and performs duties as flight instructor
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

General Experience:
Experience which has provided a general knowledge of aircraft fuel, electrical, and hydraulic systems and components

Specialized Experience:
Must have at least 30 months experience or training in the following:

  • KNOLWEDGE of aerial refueling capabilities of KC-46 and aerial refueling data for all authorized receiver aircraft.
  • ABILITY to communicate orally and in writing to prepare lessons, documents and reports, present training and/or instruction and brief
    passengers and crews.
  • KNOWLEDGE of a wide variety of systems and components critical to the performance of the aircraft such as propulsion, electrical, hydraulic environmental etc
  • KNOWLEDGE of navigational operating procedures relative to aerial refueling tracks
  • SKILL to assist the pilot in positioning the tankers for rendezvous with receiver aircraft.
  • KNOWLEDGE of the methods of instruction, aircrew training program requirements, procedures and standards of performance.

Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment.
