Duties

Help

As a Ordnance Equipment Mechanic Leader with the Texas National Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • On a regular and recurring basis during shift operations. Leads three or more mechanics performing maintenance on assigned air munitions, missiles, and munitions handling equipment inclusive of the following: maintains and repairs assigned missiles, operates, repairs, maintains and calibrates missile test equipment, receives, identifies, inspects and stores conventional aerospace munitions, etc., inspects, maintains, and reconditions conventional aerospace munitions and handling equipment, assembles and issues conventional aerospace munitions, posts entries on applicable maintenance and inspection records;antipreloads missiles or launches and/or launches and/or delivers to aircraft loading areas.
  • In addition to performing the same tasks as those led. The incumbent monitors the work of assigned technicians, passes work assignments on as directed by supervisor, ensures that proper materials, tools, and equipment are available: ensures full utilization of personnel and completion of those assignments within established time frames, and advises supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delay, and overall work operations, problems, and individual performance.
  • Exercises journeyman level skills of the Ordnance Equipment Mechanic occupation in performing a variety of troubleshooting detect isolation, and repair processes related to complex ordnance equipment and multi-component devices composed of interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic assemblies and components.
  • The Munitions Maintenance and Storage Section Forman provides assignments in the form of work orders, inspection reports, or verbal instructions.
  • Work requires standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Work is both inside and outside in inclement weather, on ice, wet, and slippery rams, work stands and in temperature and humidity extremes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Appointment Factor(s): This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Air National Guard and wear of the military uniform. Applicants who are not already on-board employees with the Texas Air National Guard do not meet eligibility for this position.

Areas of Consideration: In-State. This includes:

  • All currently employed full-time permanent, indefinite and temporary personnel of the Texas Air National Guard.
  • All current members of the National Guard, Reserves, or Active Duty and eligible for immediate transfer into the Texas Air National Guard. (In-state)

Specialized Experience:

To qualify at the WL-10 grade level, your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting experience or training in repairing, rebuilding, modifying, and testing a variety of major subassemblies. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining repair in major components consisting of numerous assemblies, interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblies, and components. Experience in the use of precision measurement equipment. Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials. AND In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.

Other Requirements:
