Duties

Help
  • Serves as the Deputy Emergency Services Manager and Force Protection Officer, a subordinate and assistant to the Emergency Services Manager.
  • Incumbent is responsible for law enforcement; physical, personnel, and information security; antiterrorism/force protection; and fire protection/prevention programs that encompass a variety of sensitive and mission critical functions.
  • As one of the Commander's experts on antiterrorism and force protection and as the deputy program manager, directs the development, implementation, and operation of an integrated antiterrorism/force protection (AT/FP) program.
  • Conducts effective and timely liaison with counterparts in federal, state and local jurisdictions.
  • Through subordinate supervisors, performs a wide range of managerial tasks in planning, managing, directing and evaluating law enforcement and fire prevention and protection operations.
  • As directed by the Emergency Services Manager, represents the installation for fire and law enforcement matters to surrounding civilian communities to include the local, county and state police and fire departments, as well as civic interest groups.
  • Develops performance plans, evaluates work performance and counsels staff as appropriate.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Managing or assisting in the implementation of an organizations Security and/or Protection Programs such as: physical security, information security, personnel security, force protection and anti-terrorism, law enforcement, and/or fire and emergency services; (2) Providing guidance to a variety of stakeholders regarding the administration and/or delivery of emergency services programs; and (3) Leading and/or supervising employees to achieve organizational goals such as: identifying priorities, evaluating performance, reviewing outcomes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
