Duties

Help

Assists in planning, administering and arranging a diverse outdoor recreation program which includes, but is not limited to snow skiing, water skiing, wilderness backpacking, whitewater rafting, hiking, camping, mountain biking, rock climbing and other customer desired programs. Within overall activity, develop, implement and record an operational risk management program to ensure safety of staff, volunteers and participants. Solicits speakers and volunteer sources to teach or lead clinics. Provides guidance or leadership to the various leisure activities/programs and their participants, modifying, adapting or otherwise changing plans and procedures for such activities. Assists in minor repair, tuning and setting bindings on rented or customer owned skis and mountain bikes. Works with the marketing office to develop and write articles to be published. Routinely evaluates the effectiveness of the programs from the standpoint of a participant and monitors for cost effectiveness and benefits derived utilizing customer feedback. Provides monthly participation and program events to the supervisor. Briefs outdoor adventure programs and upcoming activities to various organizations on base (e.g. commander's call, AFCOMAC, Right Start Briefing, spouse's clubs, etc.). Assists in establishing and scheduling the annual events, programs and activities. Develops periodic program plans and annual budget requirements with supporting data for inclusion in the overall program for plans formulated at higher organizational levels. May be required to work uncommon tour of duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Preferred degree in Recreation Administration or equivalent. Must have experience which has provided familiarity with routines and procedures followed in group activities/programs. Experience and/or current certifications in a variety of recreational activities including but not limited to whitewater rafting, swift water rescue, Amateur Ski Instructor Association (ASIA), American Canoe Association (ACA), kayak instruction certifications etc., is desirable. Must have proven experience to independently carry out continuing recreation projects or programs through proper application of the principles, concepts and techniques of the recreation specific needs. Must have experience in managing financial and physical resources. Must possess a valid CA Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement. Experience in tuning, minor repair and fitting of skis and bicycles is desirable. NAC required.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
