Duties

Help
  • You will make job offers, review employment eligibility forms, schedule physical/security appointments, and answer employee questions regarding benefits, entitlements, and employment.
  • You will determine necessary processing forms and requirements based on the type of appointment and status of selectee.
  • You will determine pay for both General Schedule and Federal Wage System employees for a variety of accessions and internal promotion and change to lower grade actions.
  • You will conduct new employee orientation briefings and answers questions on general Civil Service employment.
  • You will provide training, advice, and guidance to command liaisons and employees on various aspects of the staffing and classification processes.
  • You will respond to a variety of inquiries on procedures for hiring and filling vacancies.
  • You will prepare travel estimates, secure line of accounting from owning commands and prepare travel orders.
  • You will establish and/or maintain various program files, instructions, and subject matter files.
  • You will support the Human Resources Office for the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
  • You will utilizing various office automation software to produce documents such as letters, reports, presentations, etc., in order to support the work of senior personnel in an office.
  • You will apply proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications and be an articulate communicator.
  • You will work under supervision and/or independently, as well as in virtual and in-person teams.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing personnel support functions (e.g. applicant onboarding; new employee in-processing; maintaining personnel files); and entering data into an automated personnel system (e.g. Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS)).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.

Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of 4 years above high school

OR

A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
