Help

As a Director of Occupational Health, you will:

  • Supervise a diverse team of technical experts and safety managers.
  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Serve as the programmatic specialist and technical expert responsible for directing BPA's Occupational Health Team.
  • Develop, oversee and execute the implementation of policy and program performance standards for safety.
  • Direct the investigation of industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, and install preventative measures.
  • Appraise the degree of program compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Represent BPA and the Safety organization in conferences and meetings with other agencies, State and local authorities, private industry and public groups.
  • Serve as primary or backup Safety Officer.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal service.

Specialized Experience for this position is defined as: Leading a project or team to 1) administer occupational safety and health
programs related to Fire Prevention, Industrial Hygiene, or Medical Surveillance; AND 2) evaluate organizational programs for compliance with occupational safety and health requirements (i.e. laws, regulations, policies, etc.).


"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
