Duties

Help

As an Ecosystem Restoration Programs Director, you will:

  • Lead Program staff in providing programmatic support to Council funding decisions.
  • Maintain responsibility over the drafting of the RESTORE Council Comprehensive Plan commitments, including implementing a regional ecosystem-based approach to restoration, leveraging resources and partnerships, overseeing science-based decision-making, delivering results, and measuring impacts.
  • Respond to inquiries from the eleven (11) Council members related to Gulf-wide ecosystem restoration planning and implementation, environmental compliance of funded projects, and related policies.
  • Play a key role in maintaining and advancing a science-guided approach to regional ecosystem restoration within the Gulf of America in adherence with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Individual Occupational Requirements: Basic Requirements:

  1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

    OR

  2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.


Specialized Experience:

For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Developing, maintaining, and advancing a science guided approach to regional ecosystem restoration; AND
  • Managing ecosystem restoration programs; AND
  • Communicating technical scientific ecosystem restoration information to non-technical audiences; AND
  • Facilitating decision-making within diverse groups to achieve a common balance.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

B.
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
