What to Expect

  • Serves as the Director and Assistant Chief of Staff, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) for Marine Corps Installations East, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune (MCIEAST-MCB CAMLEJ), reporting directly to the Commanding General (CG). 
  • Responsible for developing and executing MCCS business strategies, ensuring policy and procedural compliance, measuring organizational performance, and implementing corrective actions when necessary. 
  • Oversee all fiscal activities, including the development and administration of the overall operating budget, provides financial oversight, promotes best business practices, and ensures program consistency across the five installations within the MCIEAST-MCB CAMLEJ region, while recognizing that installation commanders and their MCCS directors retain ultimate responsibility for their local programs. 
  • Represents MCCS to senior officials, community leaders, and partner organizations on matters concerning MCCS projects and programs. 
  • Plans, reviews, interprets, and implements policies established by higher authority; resolves financial, personnel, and operational issues impacting mission effectiveness; and establishes priorities, methods, and timeframes for accomplishment of MCCS projects. 
  • Analyzes programs on a regular basis, and prompts initiation of corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of MCCS. 
  • Develops long range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives and exercises internal personnel management authorities.
  • Directly or indirectly, supervises employees. 
  • Demonstrates and promotes world-class customer service with an emphasis on courtesy, safety, and employee well-being. 
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations, standards, and the MCCS "Return to Work" program, fostering a culture of care, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • This position is identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP).  Subject to random drug testing because duties must be performed with a high level of productivity, reliability, and judgment to prevent adversely affecting personnel safety, and causing risk/damage to government property, and/or significant adverse impact to day-to-day operations. A positive drug test, or failure to submit for testing may become the basis for removal from this position.

What are we looking for?

  • Five years of executive-level experience at the NF-5 level or above that demonstrates possession of management principles in planning, coordinating, and attaining the goals and financial objectives of a large customer-oriented organization; a thorough knowledge of business practices, economic principles, and ability to analyze trends/developments and make improvements in operating programs through innovative marketing, personnel management, and retailing.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) operations, policies, and mission objectives, with demonstrated experience leading complex MCCS programs that enhance quality of life and support readiness across Marine Corps installations.  
  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Must possess above average oral and written communication skills and have ability to deal with individuals on different levels such as senior elected officials, and high-ranking military officers.  
  • Knowledge of Marine Corps staff procedures and organization is highly desirable. 
  • Annual financial declaration is required. Must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with OPM policy, must successfully complete a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI/Tier 5).  
  • The position requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and other intelligence-related sensitive information. 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 5 investigation, which requires TS/SCI clearance. 
  • Attends sensitive meetings with MCIEAST staff members that could be classified at Top Secret/SCI at any given time, based on ongoing operational tempo of the installation.
