Duties

Help
  • You will manage and oversee the configuration and optimization of routers and switches to support the full range of network related services.
  • You will be responsible for planning, evaluating, coordinating and implementing NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and Standalone network connections for users requiring access to the organizations unclassified and classified networks.
  • You will serve as subject matter expert (SME) for Secret Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNET) and Network Internet Protocol Network (NIPRNET).
  • You will initiate corrective action plans, within regulatory/statutory guide parameters to improve and accomplish network requirements.
  • You will write Standard Operating Procedures to adapt operating policies, instructions or procedures and convey NEC operating instructions.
  • You will plan, conduct, control and coordinate varied studies and analysis to meet operational needs for network systems.
  • You will responsible for coordination with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Department of the Navy, Higher Headquarters, and contractor representatives for installation, testing, and 24 hour operation of SWFPAC Networks.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Nuclear Deterrent Mission position.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 441, proficiency level intermediate the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and evaluating IT network systems including performance, security and cost to develop plan and design for network modification and enhancement AND recommend solutions to enterprise IT requirements.

Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Configuring and optimizing network servers, hubs, routers and switches; Monitoring network capacity and performance; Developing plans and designs for network modifications and enhancements; Reviews proposed applications for compatibility and interoperability.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Coordinates installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning of the LAN; Analyzes systems malfunctions and implements necessary corrective actions; Installing network software fixes and upgrades.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Liaison with clients on all matters related to network operations and support; Prepare and present reports; Participate in the IT capital planning process.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing and defining network requirements; Conduct analyses and recommend resolution of complex issues affecting network services; Evaluates the effectiveness of current network systems; Evaluate and recommend adoption of new or enhanced approaches to deliver network services.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
