Summary

You will serve as an AEGIS Waterfront On Site Installation Coordinator in the INTEGRATED COMBAT SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT, FLEET ENGAGEMENT & ENGINEERING DIVISION of NAVSURFWARCENDLD.

The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.

Duties

Help
  • You will lead AEGIS/Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) Weapon System Computer Program installations and provide Technical Direction and problem solving for Fleet issues.
  • You will oversee and lead teams installing AEGIS or Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Weapon Systems Computer Programs at various locations around the globe.
  • You will provide senior technical guidance on-site, underway, and distance support by performing checkout and troubleshooting of installed weapon system computer programs and equipment interfaces.
  • You will provide senior-level expertise and advice to division personnel in the performance of a variety of technical to Aegis and Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Combat Systems.
  • You will lead junior level technicians in the Fleet Support Group and mentor junior engineers in the employment and application of AEGIS combat systems.
  • You will lead government and contract teams at meetings and reviews.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position may require work onboard ships and the ability to maneuver on ship ladders.

Qualifications

For the NT-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least 1 year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical guidance or expertise in the installation, troubleshooting, or operation of defense combat systems. Examples of qualifying experience may include: applying engineering principles relating to AEGIS and AEGIS Ballistic Missile Defense Combat Systems; applying engineering principles to testing and evaluation events; utilizing performance management/measurement methods, tools, and techniques to solve technical problems.

For the NT-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least 1 year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical support in the installation, troubleshooting, or operation of defense combat systems. Examples of qualifying experience may include: performing technical duties concerning the application of engineering principles relating to AEGIS and AEGIS Ballistic Missile Defense Combat Systems; utilizing performance management/measurement methods, tools, and techniques to solve technical problems, utilizing defense computer programs and equipment to execute technical engineering tasks.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-11/12. The full performance level of NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13/14. The salary range shown in the announcement represents all positions within the band, including GS-14 equivalent (high grade) positions. This is not a high grade position; the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $156,498)
