Help
  • Executes range facility opening, closing, and operating procedures in accordance with installation, local, and federal laws.
  • Instructs patrons on range safety practices, and provides general firearm and marksmanship information.
  • Ensures proper handling storage, accountability, inventory of ammunition, and vault security.
  • Issues ammunition and range related accessories to customers, checks ID, and collects fees.
  • Directs patrons; schedules use of ranges; conducts briefings; and monitors patrons. Coordinates league, competition, and group functions.

  • Position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Work hours may involve weekday, weekend, holiday and night duty.
  • Medical Examination is required. Individual must be able to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance and heavier loads with assistance.
  • Must meet age restrictions (21 years old) for the handling of firearms.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) as required by Army Regulation 600-85. A negative drug test is required prior to appointment for a TDP. Incumbent will be subject to subsequent random drug testing.
  • Must be able to obtain current Installation Range Certification Card, National Rifle Associate (NRA) Range Safety Officer Certification, or equivalent certification within 60 days of entrance on duty.
  • This position is dual compensation exempt; All GS and NAF employees whether full time or part time are eligible to apply for this position.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  1. Must have experience firing range operations and firearm safety and possess work experience which involved dealing with the general public.
  2. Cashier skills.
  3. Must be able to obtain current Installation Range Certification Card, National Rifle Associate (NRA) Range Safety Officer Certification, or equivalent certification within 60 days of entrance on duty.
This experience must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":

1. Instructor level certification(s) in Pistol and/or Rifle from a recognized national governing body (e.g. NSSA, NRA, NACFI, etc.)
2. Possess knowledge in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Word ETC).
3. Possess knowledge in the Rectrac System

The certification(s) above must be reflected on your resume AND your certification uploaded at the time of application to be considered a highly preferred candidate.

LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT:
  • This position requires that the incumbent meet initial and continuing qualifications in the use of firearms as outlined in the Gun Control Act of 1968, amended by the Lautenberg Amendment of 1996. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition {Title18, U.S.C., Section 922(g)(9)}. A "misdemeanor crime of domestic violence" is generally defined under the statute, as any offense involving the use or attempted use of physical force, or the threatened use of a deadly weapon, committed by the victim's current or former domestic partner, parent or guardian. The term "convicted," as defined in the statute, excludes any person whose conviction has been expunged, set-aside, or pardoned, or any person whose civil rights have been restored unless the pardon, expungement or restoration of civil rights expressly prohibits the possession of firearms or ammunition. Candidates who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence within the meaning of the referenced statute are not qualified for this position. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense. False or fraudulent information proved by candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment, [Title 18, U.S.C., Section 1001].

  • Thursday November 06, 2025 (Applications must be received by 11:59 PM EST).
