Duties

Help
  • Constructs, alters, repairs or modifies structures and trim where accuracy, spacing and fit are essential. Plans and completes project from initial layout to final assembly and installation.
  • May be required to operate a motor vehicle to transport materials and crew members.
  • Advanced shop mathematics to plan and compute exact features such as arcs, tangents and circles. Ability to set-up, adjust and adapt hand and power tools to accomplish necessary tasks.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment used including sharpening blades and tools.
  • Work is assigned orally or through work orders. Determines materials, methods and tools to be used. Final product is checked to ensure compliance with accepted trade standards.
  • Requires considerable standing, stooping and bending as well as extensive overhead arm movement. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's permit.
  2. Be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  3. Possess advanced shop mathematics.
  4. Have work experience performing the identified duties.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
