Duties

Help
  • Independently performs, access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirement as a guide to access determination for a wide range of unique circumstances.
  • Authenticates identification through use of electronic means such as the Defense Information System for Security Web application (DISS).
  • Serves as the initial point of contact for the installation’s visitors which may include foreign nationals, government agents, elective officials, media and Very Important Persons (VIP).
  • Reports suspicious activities, unauthorized entry, fires, medical emergencies, criminal acts or other hazards.
  • Provided guard services to personnel or facility to prevent damage or loss to property, material and equipment.
  • Check Personnel for proper security credentials and verified the functionality of badging systems.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Incumbent must pass a pre-employment physical examination as well as an annual physical examination.
  • As a precondition and continuing condition of employment, the incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis testing under the Drug Abuse Testing Program IAW AR 600-85.
  • This is a key designated position that cannot be vacated during a national emergency or disaster without seriously impairing the capability of the parent organization to function effectively.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to carry firearms or other weapons authorized for their specific jurisdictions and required to qualify with assigned weapons on a semi- annual basis, to demonstrate skill/proficiency in their use.
  • This position will require the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid local driver’s license and a Government Operators License.
  • The incumbent is required to wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR190-56 and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • This position requires the incumbent will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays on various shifts in accordance with assigned schedule.
  • Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • This position requires the incumbent to undergo training in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.
  • This position requires the incumbent to submit to and pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) annually IAW AR 190-56.
  • This position requires the incumbent must qualify and remain qualified with the Individual Reliability Program (AR 190-56).
  • Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includesthe protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; maintaining order and protecting life; experience with operating requirements, methods, and procedures to control access to highly sensitive national defense materials and systems; and experience with maintenance of assigned weapons and related equipment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education
