This position is located at the 162D in Tucson, Arizona. Its primary purpose is to perform on- and/or off-equipment maintenance on assigned aircraft pneudraulic systems, components and related aerospace ground equipment.

  • ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 162D.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guar, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver's license.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications

Military Grades: AB/ E-1 to SSgt/E-5

Compatible Military Assignments: Must possess or be able to obtain 2A6X4

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

WG-8268-8: Must possess at least 12 months experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work.

WG-8268-10: Must possess at least 18 months experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil, and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):

1. Ability to utilize electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics and technical publications, determines extent and type of preventative and/or repair maintenance required.

2. Ability to connect power sources, and using cockpit controls, gauges and additional precision instruments, performs operational and functional checks of in-flight refueling, single point refueling and fuel transfer systems and related valves, pumps, switches, selectors, and control devices.

3. Skill to locate and isolate leaks in fuel tanks/cells, repair and test cells (within aircraft or after removing components) if required, installs, reconnects, and tests the components and systems.

4. knowledge to diagnose and overhaul fuel accessories by disassembling, cleaning, and examining parts for corrosion, scratches, cracks or other damage.

5. Ability to prepare for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI. IG and DE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises.
