Duties

Help

Operate food service equipment in a safe manner.
Cleans sanitize, and maintain foodservice equipment.
Instruct patients on proper procedures for ordering meals using room service.
Answer questions and/or responds to requests for diet instruction by referring requests to Registered Dietitian.
Prepare patient tray count reports.
Assist in training of dietetic interns, military food service specialists and newly assigned personnel by demonstrating procedures.
Tabulate the appropriate number of regular and modified diets and provides report to department’s budget analyst.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
A pre-placement medical examination is required.
This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
Moderate to heavy lifting up to 15 pounds may be required.
This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General and/or Specialized Experience: Six months of general experience (1) in any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with performing administrative tasks and handling food AND six months of specialized experience which includes Providing nutrition or dietetics services to clients and recording client information in computerized system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).

OR

Education: Two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position, such as, Dietetics or Nutrition.

OR
